Pilgrim Manor Foundation / Compassionate Care

The Pilgrim Manor Foundation was established in 1998 as the fundraising and advocacy arm of Pilgrim Manor Retirement Community.

The Foundation's primary purpose is to raise funds to help cover the cost of annual Compassionate Care for residents who have outlived or depleted their personal financial resources. In addition, the Foundation also raises money for programming and expanded services outside the operations budget, and for capital improvements.

Through annual appeals, special events, major donor and planned giving development, money raised is invested and managed by Northern Trust Company.

There are several funds within the Pilgrim Manor Foundation. The interest from the fund for Compassionate Care is used to help defray this annual expense. The principal continues to grow to generate more interest. The estimated expense for Compassionate Care in 2005 is $400,000.00. Through a mid-winter phone-a-thon, two direct mail appeals, the Fall Founders' Gala and other donor development and activities, supporters of Pilgrim Manor will have many opportunities to help us reach our goal.

Because residents come to us older, frailer and with fewer financial assets, it is critical that we continue to build our Compassionate Care endowment resources. Since opening our doors in 1963, Pilgrim Manor has never asked a resident to leave because of inability to pay. It's a commitment we take very seriously. And it's a commitment that gets more challenging to maintain. Growing our Compassionate Care endowment is critical to Pilgrim Manor's long-term success.

A licensed 501c3 charitable organization, the Foundation accepts gifts of cash, appreciated assets, life insurance, charitable lead and charitable remainder trusts, bequests, and memorial and tribute gifts.
